    Fun Godzilla Movie....

Posted by Unknown on 19th Mar 2015

...from the Showa era. This movie is underrated, IMO. Much better than Godzilla's Revenge, the other movie featuring the Son of Godzilla. The acting is better than most from that era and it has a feeling of a "Gilligan's Island" adventure throughout the movie, though not quite as goofy. Godzilla's design is obviously more directed towards children as is the whole movie making this a good family movie. The DVD is almost flawless. Very clear with only one transfer problem with sound during the beginning of the movie. The rest isn't even noticeable. Much needed to finish out you Godzilla collection.

    Quality DVD

I am going to review both the film and product. The sound and picture quality is the best it can be for this film. This is the first time I have watched this in Japanese audio and that itself was a treat. The dub isn't included in this release but these films should be watched in Japanese anyway. The film itself, is both loved and hated by fans. I pretty much enjoy any movie with my favorite monster in it. The director from the previous Godzilla film Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster or Ebirah, Horror of the Deep returned and this time, the movie was more focused like it was written for a Godzilla film, not a King Kong film where the main monster was changed midway through writing. I like the characters in this one. Overall it is a decent film, check it out.

One of the best Godzilla Movies of the 1960s

Posted by Unknown on 1st Sep 2014

I did not know what to expect when I sent for this movie in terms of the story. All I knew was that this was the original Son of Godzilla's first appearance, who had never been a favorite of mine (much prefer Baby Godizilla from the 1990s). What transpired was a sort of Godzilla on Skull Island experience where he battles preying mantis and a giant spider, Junior is actually pretty good in it, too, for a change. The picture quality is up to the same standards as the studio and apart from the fact that there is no menu, nor label to the disc you would never know it wasn't a major studio release. Great job on the transfer!

    Minilla has a GREAT dad

SON OF GODZILLA knows it's cute. It goes into the film knowing that The Big G is just a softy at heart where his offspring is concerned. So, the city-destroying is eliminated in favor of setting this on a deserted island, with appropriate native girl, scantily clad amongst several men who apparently have no interest in her. Classic stuff. The story isd simple--scientists meaning well. screw up an island to create Deadly Mantises, while up pops and egg that hatches a baby Godzilla! Hilarity ensues, monster fights in best WWE style, Godzilla-in-training, a colossal OHHELLNO!! monster at the climax, and the best Father-Son film any genre could hope for.
