    Exceeded my expectations

Posted by Unknown on 7th Sep 2017

I was surprised by the picture and audio quality of this DVD. For a 43 year old film, the transfer is about as good as one can expect given the inherent limitations of DVD over Blu-Ray.

I love this DVD despite the fact that it is in Japanese. At least I can watch it with the subtitle on. Would love to find the one that has the English version.

    Finally, After All These Years...

Posted by Wilchbla on 6th Oct 2015

Ever since I first seen the Famous Monsters of Filmland cover of July '77 when I was nine years old I've wanted to see this movie badly. I neglected to pick it up in 2004 before it went out of print (honestly, I was unaware it was even available). Now, thanks to Sumogorilla, I finally get to see it in all it glorious kaiju/mecha destruction. Quite an entertaining Godzilla flick which is more directed towards adults then some of the previous in the franchise. Also, MechaG's first movie and he's straight up bad in this one being control by ape like aliens who again want to conquer the world starting with Japan. The movie also features King Caesar who tag teams with Godzilla to bring down the formidable cyborg. There's also a cameo of Godzilla's faithful friend, Anguirus. The transfer for this movie is pretty clear and colorful, probably the best you will get .

A Long Sought After Gem...In Great Quality!

Posted by Nick Klein on 19th Jun 2015

First of all I just want to THANK sumogorilla.com immensely for this awesome DVD! I am a huge Godzilla fan, and have been ever since I was a young child. Over the past several years I've been building my collection of Godzilla films on DVD. I had almost all of the movies, from the Showa, Heisei, and Millennium eras. The only two I was missing were Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla and Godzilla 1985. I looked everywhere to find copies of these two missing links, but the cheapest USED copies on amazon were almost $100. These DVDs are top quality with awesome extras and at unbelievably low prices! These movies, which are ultra rare in the US, are so difficult to find. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK SUMOGORILLA.COM YOU HAVE MADE ONE G-FAN EXTREMELY HAPPY!!

If you can't get to Japan...

Posted by Jim Vecchio on 3rd Jun 2015

I have purchased this, and many of the Japanese kaiju/sci fi dvds from SUMOGORILLA, and am highly satisfied. You have the option of viewing the original Japanese production in a high-quality print, with or without easily readable subtitles. It is the next best thing to actually being there, viewing the movie in a theater in Japan. I thank SUMOGORILLA for making these products so easily attainable, in the manner in which they were meant to be seen.

    Best version of this movie

Posted by Unknown on 4th Apr 2015

This was 1 of 3 Godzilla films I've been searching for on DVD. I agree with other reviewers that watching the Japanese versions of Godzilla films is the best way to see them. After watching it, I have to say it was like being a kid again seeing it for the 1st time. If you are considering this don't hesitate!

    Go Sumogorilla!

    Posted by Skook3 on 1st Apr 2015

This video is out-of- production, not part of any collection, and $80 if you try to buy a copy. I'm so glad Sumogorilla made it available at a great price. Outstanding video quality!

    The best you can get!

I'm so glad I took a chance on Sumogorilla without buying from them before or knowing much about their products. I got this as well as another dvd for a friend and was thoroughly impressed by the quality. I also love how the case comes with cover art. My roommate can support physical media by proudly filling the gaps in his collection.
