Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster, (released in Japan as San Daikaij¿: Chiky¿ Saidai no Kessen)
is a 1964 Japanese science fiction kaiju film produced by Toho. Directed by Ishir¿ Honda, and featuring special effects by Eiji Tsuburaya, the film starred Yosuke Natsuki, Hiroshi Koizumi, and Akiko Wakabayashi. The 5th film in the Godzilla series and the second Godzilla film produced this year (production began following Mothra vs Godzilla), this was the film where the decision to turn Godzilla from a villain to a hero in the original series took place. This film features the first appearance of King Ghidorah, the main antagonist of the Godzilla franchise. The film was released theatrically in the United States in the Fall of 1965 by Continental Distributing as Ghidrah, the Three-Headed Monster
