A SHRIEK IN THE NIGHT ( 1933) B&W 67 MINS.
A Shriek in the Night is a 1933 American comedy horror film starring Ginger Rogers, Lyle Talbot, and Harvey Clark. Rival newspaper reporters Pat Morgan (Rogers) and Ted Kord (Talbot) find themselves unravelling the mystery behind the death of a millionaire philanthropist who fell from his penthouse balcony. When it is discovered that the plunge was not an accident, the building's residents come under suspicion. Soon, the body count begins to mount as three more murders occur by strangulation.

THE GORILLA (1939) B&W 68 MINS.
Bela Lugosi fans and Ritz Brothers fans -- two groups that do not necessarily intersect -- are likely to be the only ones who really get much out of The Gorilla, a not very successful remake of the "old dark house" chestnut refitted to suit the comic talents of the sibling team. Lugosi is indeed a treat, playing a supporting role that gives him ample opportunity to both spoof and play straight his sinister persona. Indeed, the actor seems to be having a fine time playing this undemanding part and gives it much more than it deserves.
